5 tips to kick-start your wellness journey!

“If you don’t take care of your body, where are you going to live?”

As quoted above, your body is a sanctity you ought to worship. For if your body gave up on you, your awesome ideas and endless hustle could never see fruition.

Wellness is a term that engulfs mental, physical, and social well-being. Its horizon does not limit to being illness-free. Wellness is when one consistently progresses towards a peaceful state of mind, body, and soul!

We have jotted down a few tips for you to consider for a full-fledged self-care, wellness journey-

Be hydrated every time, every day

The benefits of consuming copious amounts of water are no secret to spill. But, let’s just a browse through a few of them to open our eyes-

  • Add it to your daily skin-care routine as it is a natural remedy for nourishing your skin!
  • Your digestive system needs it for proper functioning 
  • Adequate water intake would regulate your body temperature
  • With water, your body can say no to Kidney stones
  • Dehydration tampers with your exercise or daily activities
  • Pre-loading with water can help prevent over-eating
  • A fantastic alternative to sweetened juices for weight-loss

It would be unrealistic to increase our water-intake drastically. So, we can start with 2 glasses of water every morning and go up from there. 

Stretch it out

Stretching right after waking up and before bed works wonders! It relaxes the stiff muscles and makes you ready to face the day as well as the bed!

Stretching wakes up the body by increasing the blood flow and relives last night’s stress. And, night-time stretch unwinds your body and lets go of the daily stress. 

So, add stretching into your morning and night routine.

Let’s replace weight with health

Do not fixate on losing or gaining weight. As an alternative, kickstart your journey of becoming healthy!

Weight is a fluctuating goal, and health could be something we can strive to improve daily. Try not to fuss over the number on the weighing scale as it would never be stable.

Health encompasses your mental and social well-being as well and could be a concrete life-long goal. 

Let’s reiterate ‘I am trying to be in good health’ and stop with ‘I am trying to lose weight’. 

You can go ahead with variations of Yoga styles or inculcate meditation, or any and every activity which makes your body sigh of relief and not stress.

Your body is as healthy as your mindset

Meditation or healing sessions could prove to be wondrous when surrounded by hopelessness. 

Even physical activities such as yoga, work-outs, dancing release the ‘feel-good’, a hormone called dopamine. A trip or two around town or to faraway places would help you regain your positive energy as well!

The morning sun is your friend!

Sitting in the morning sunlight for 30 minutes is an investment in your wellness journey. And, you do not want to miss out! Here’s why-

  • The mood-boosting hormone called serotonin gets triggered with the right amount of sunlight
  • Vitamin-D levels also rise. Thus, helping you prevent unwanted illnesses
  • WHO reported that adequate exposure to sunlight helps to reduce skin conditions such as acne and eczema 

Just as an excess of anything is harmful, prolonged exposure to sunlight counts too. Do not forget to keep your sunscreen with you!
